School Programs Introduction

Join USDA Forest Service naturalists for unique environmental adventures at the San Gabriel Canyon Environmental Education Center in the Angeles National Forest. Developed in conjunction with the successful Mt. Baldy Environmental Education program, these ranger-led programs are designed around California State Curriculum Guidelines.

Your journey begins under the oaks at the historic Rincon Fire Station located 11 miles north of Azusa in the heart of San Gabriel Canyon. From there you will travel to various locations throughout the canyon for field activities.

Ecology, geology, California gold mining history, water quality and Native American history are a few of the topics available for you to choose from. Our new wildland fire studies program is the hottest topic around.

School Year July 2007 - June 2008 Programs offered Tuesday through Friday. Choice of location either Mt. Baldy Village, 9 miles north of 210 Fwy in Claremont or San Gabriel Canyon, Hwy 39, 11 miles north of 210 Fwy in Azusa. Baldy location maximum is 60 students.
