Brian the Bighorn says: "Bighorn are known for the head-to-head combat between males. Clashes have occurred at speeds of 45 miles per hour. The blows can be heard echoing through the mountains for miles around."
Scouting Programs
Scout Badge, Belt Loop and Pin Requirements
Work on requirements for your badge, pin or belt loop in the beauty of the mountains. The Mt. Baldy Visitor Center is an ideal place for an after-school excursion with your scouting group. We will lead a hike, plan the activities, and help you with your requirements for the Forestry, Wildlife Conservation, Geology, Naturalist and many other badges.
Summer Camp Visits
If it is inconvenient for you to visit the mountains, Mt. Baldy Environmental Education can pack up materials for its activities and its live animals and come to you. Programs and activities can be tailored to fit the needs and composition of your group.
Eagle Scout and Community Service Projects
Many maintenance and interpretive projects at the Visitor Center have been taken on by our local scouting groups and future Eagle Scouts. Whether it has been painting the Visitor Center, putting up a fence, or constructing a reproduction of a traditional Gabrielino dwelling, we owe a considerable debt to our scouting and community groups. Contact the Visitor Center if you would like to explore or schedule a work project.
