Spend a Saturday Morning in the Forest

Bring your family, friends, school or scout group, and join a U.S. Forest Service Naturalist for a morning outdoor education adventure in the Angeles National Forest.

Learn about the Curve and Williams Fires of 2002. See the location of Eldoradoville, an 1870's gold mining camp. Look for birds and other wildlife along the San Gabriel River and surrounding canyon, study the geology of the San Gabriel Mountains Range. A new and different program will be offered every month. Hiking is not strenuous, but you will be walking over rocky and uneven terrain.

Driving Directions: From the 210 Freeway in Azusa, take Azusa Ave, Highway 39, north passing by the East Fork bridge. The Environmental Education Center is on the left just after the OHV area.

When:The last Saturday of the month - 9:00 am to 12 noon
Where:The San Gabriel Canyon Environmental Education Center
Cost:$5.00 per person
Bring:Water, sturdy walking shoes, sunscreen, binoculars, camera, your lunch. Dress in layers for the weather
Contact:Steve Segreto at (909) 982-2879 for more information

"I think of these tours as one of the little gems of living in the San Gabriel Valley. And for the $5 price of admission, I think it's a real bargain."
